2009 Independent Spirit Award Nominations Released

The Nominations for the 2009 Independent Spirit Awards are now online!

Note: The Wrestler is holding the highest reviewed between the other nominations with a 100%. Wendy and Lucy is at a 93%, Rachel Getting Married 88%, Ballast and Frozen River hold at an 86% each.

Im really hoping Synecdoche walks away with the award. (Yeah I know that sounds sided but I think Kaufman is a genius.)

Best Male Lead
Javier Bardem - Vicky Cristina Barcelona
Richard Jenkins - The Visitor
Sean Penn - Milk
Jeremy Renner - The Hurt Locker
Mickey Rourke - The Wrestler

I think its going be a big competition between Rourke and Penn.

Best Screenplay
Woody Allen - Vicky Cristina Barcelona
Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck - Sugar
Charlie Kaufman - Synecdoche, New York
Howard A. Rodman - Savage Grace
Christopher Zalla - Sangre De Mi Sangre

Best Cinematography
Maryse Alberti - The Wrestler
Lol Crawley - Ballast
James Laxton - Medicine for Melancholy
Harris Savides - Milk
Michael Simmonds - Chop Shop

Couple things here, first off this guy's name is Lol. Also, another battle between Milk and The Wrestler.

Now there are tons more such as Director, Documentary, Supporting and Lead Female, Foreign Film and the list goes on. One thing I am sad about is the fact that in the Best Foreign Film category, Tomas Alfredson's Let the Right One In, isn't on the list and it definitely deserves it.
